Legislation in new federal bill, the HCBS Access Act, could help hundreds of thousands more people with disabilities and seniors receive life-sustaining home care services and in their communities.
The bill, recently introduced in Congress, would increase Medicaid and state funding for home and community-based services (HCBS), and also provide resources to states for the caregiving workforce.
The HCBS Access Act should, over time, eliminate lengthy waiting lists for homecare services.
“The caregiving crisis in this country leaves millions of seniors and people with disabilities without a meaningful choice of where they can receive essential, life-sustaining care,” said Bob Casey, the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging Chairman who introduced the bill in the Senate….
