The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) officials are planning to finalize the nursing home minimum staffing proposal in 2024, an official at the federal agency confirmed at a recent national stakeholder call.
After a 60-day comment period, CMS issued its long-awaited federal nursing home staffing proposal on September 1, 2023. The federal agency could then choose to issue a final rule any time in the next three years.
